In Christchurch airport, early in the morning, that young barista lady really kick-started the day for both of us sad-to-leave-travellers... still smiling when I think about it.

Ahvenkosken Ruukki
Finally managed to stop and visit http://www.stromforsinruukki.fi/ I have been driving past it for 6 years wondering how it's like there.... Gotta go back there in summer.
Unique one worth of enjoying ... the restaurang in Hamina Bastion
Had a very nice in dinner in Hamina's old Bastion in http://www.juhlatarjoilutmirjakoivu.com/Excellent service and good food in unique enviroment.
Bastion would have a huge potential to be developed in terms of year around tourism and services, but despite of lucrative traffic from Russia for reason or another the city leadership lacks the drive bring things alive. Weird.
This cheese desert was brilliant... invented by the very sympathetic Spanish chef the day before our visit :)

Erosion of manners...
Lack of obvious needs to rely on each others (in other words lack of obvious selfish reasons to consider the fellow human being since he/she will in turn consider you) is eating the human societies from inside - only small signs like above mentioned here and there now... but creepy feeling that it is indeed getting worse as we go :(
It will get worse if parents are stopping teaching their kids those manners which aim to make everyone's living good, not just your own.
Last weekend I observed a 35ish farther, in a fully packed supermarket, filling the whole corridor by walking sloooowly hand in hand with his small children... maybe 4y old boy was dragging a small shopping cart quite obviously running it to people as they passed them and occasionally to the store shelfs, stopping shortly every time to look back at the incident. Farther quite obviously knowing what was going on but not giving a damn...
Young and old, male and female, stopping in doorways in public places to fiddle with their mobiles or to chat with someone blocking the whole doorways...
People walking in groups straight "through" you without any intention to make room for other walkers...
Garbage dumped straight out from car windows or from pockets...
Totally wreckless and mindless driving in our practically empty roads...
Lots of really clever drivers having the intellingence to pass verybody else in the highway exit queu and taking the last possible turn to the exit into the front of all those less clever who queu...
Yep it has always existed but I have a pretty definite feeling that never in this scale.

...and it has a name - innovation trauma
Professor Liisa Välikangas writes about "innovation trauma" in Tekniikka&Talous. Innovation trauma = utter disappointment in the minds of people involved in corporate internal start-up when it has failed and been closed for reason or another...
Sunray (cloud computer) within Sun Microsystems as an example:
"(After the failure) Some of the members (of the extremely hard working team) just made a conclusion that now I am wiser and from now on I will never do any innovation work. Others just left the company. The fact, that the reasons and consequences of the failure were not analysed, lead to cynisism.
Innovation trauma must be treated, so that also those who gave everything for the project get over it. Innovation is characterized by not meeting the targets. That means that lots of traumas are created. When un-treated, these will lead to bitterness. Most talented people leave the company, and company is left with those people who have never tried anything new and thus not been so heavily disppapointed."
Another piece to the puzzle of how Nokia Ventures Organization could have been improved.
