www.shozu.com looked like nice way to post pictures and videos from mobile phone to one's existing photo service (in case it is one the 4 they now support including surprise surpise Flickr).... but I did not manage to pin point that it also automatically "vacuumed" all my contacts from my mobile while sigining-up the service. Scary ! (In my (stupid) case I have all 4 bank/credit card pin numbers stored as contacts... OK - that is stupid but I do not want to remember all 4 different. Anyway despite of this pin number stupidity) I do not like the idea of getting all my contacts "automatically" (ok - there was a selection to give OK for this... which I missed) moved to some service. Call me paranoid. I do.
Btw, does not seem to be possible to get rid of your Shuzo account if one wants to ... "varokaa näitä penskat"
Sorry for the wrong info I blogged - it is indeed possible to delete an account in case somebody would like to (no reason for it while ShoZu seems to be doing the job well)... and (as I did write) it was indeed my mistake not to see the option for making the selection to vacuum/not to vacuum one's mobile contacts to the service. Thanks for corrections - Andy !

Sorry you missed that the contacts upload is optional. Please rest assured that they are securely stored on our server and we will not do anything bad with them.
You can turn this feature off again on your phone, and then delete all the contacts stored on our server via your ShoZu account on the web.
And you can delete your account there if you want to (but we hope you won't do that).
Hope you are reassured.

Thanks for the info, Andy !
... I hope I did manage to somehow anyway express in the entry that it was actually totally my fault to get them "vacuumed atuomatically" - I was just too eagar to get sign-up done and thus I completely missed that option.
Thanks also for the correction on the freedom to delete the account ... I fix in the entry ! I used to naiively think that it would not really matter since the blog doe not really reach anybody but I of course forgot now oh so effective blogosphere aggregators.
Cheers,

Hi Tuomo
We had some discussion in the ShoZu team after reading your post, and there was a feeling that we might have made it a bit too easy to accidentally ask ShoZu to hoover up your contacts when you activate. We'll look at changing the way this works for a future release.
The contacts backup service is potentially quite useful - for example, if you change your phone then all your contacts will appear magically on your new phone when you activate ShoZu. And it's easier to edit your address book on the web than with your phone keypad. Next time ShoZu connects, your edits update in your phone address book automatically.
Cheers
Andy
I can see that the contacts backup is indeed very usefull feature. Hopefully there are also all the required sync features included i.e. I could choose whether ShoZu syncs to mobile, mobile to ShoZu, both or none ;o) pretty much in Nokia PC suite style ? I for example deleted (and purged) all my contacts from the service and now am a bit "afraid" what will happen next time when I'm using ShoZu ?
Cheers,
-Tuomo-
... being afraid of I mean hat hopefully the deletion of the contacts from ShoZu will not automatically mean that client will sync my mobile and ShoZucausing a deletion of my contacts in my mobile ;o) ?
