hhhmmmsterdam...

Change back to good old times required?

I visited mom in Lahti during the weekend. She made me (eggs and bacon in the morning ;o) and) some smoothie …with the machine we’ve had forever in the family. Forever equals in this case since 1953. And it still runs perfectly. 57 years old,  fully working, actively used, household machine!

I think we do not only need a) start saving energy, b) be more energy efficient but we really also need c) change the various business logics so that they somehow support sustainability. Now, everything is optimized for the combination of the product quality for marketing purposes, re-sales frequency and service business. New business model would be needed that it makes good business sense to create products like mom’s super machine … the longer products are used the more me as consumer and the manufacturer get money … taxes back? Longer lasting products are taxed less?
