Weird stuff...
Just wondering wtf is going on. I have had too many visitors (yesterday 70 and all from Chile) from topblogstories site... which turns out to be a porn site. Why and what in there is driving traffic to here?? Googling for this site explains parts of it http://thenewfr0ntier.blogspot.fi/2013/05/miscellaneous-malice-topblogstoriescom.html
I do understand that one scams traffic in but the concept of driving it out does not open to me?
Anyways makes me feel that I am being "hacked" or scammed somehow....

Flickr is back! at least for me....
I have been looking for a reason, for a kick in the butt, to start sorting out those pics I want to remember out of my about 17000 pics. New Flickr is the reason. Savotta alkaa.

"Mainio mainos" .... Brilliant(ish) ad
Brilliant(ish) ad... distributed directly to mail box. Written in dialect. Good selected points to emphasize quality and pride of their work. Makes me want to buy from them even though I don't even have anything they could paint :)

Franciscus
"Worshiping Old Testament's golden calf has been replaced by new and heartless equivalent of worshiping money and faceless dictatorship of economy without true human goal."
Catholic church has a leader. Using his influence in the real world issues instead of eg opposing condoms.
"Solidarity, which is poor man's treasure, is often considered having a negative impact because it is in conflict with world of money and logic of economy."

From today's papers....
Tough to beat view from home office :) Nice place to read the papers too. Some thoughts to be remembered from today's papers
TT: "These gents (Pythagoras, Erastothenes et. al .) had big ambitions. Their working day did not (only) consist of tuning the process or optimizing the oliveoil reserves. Dad calculated today the volume of the earth. Pretty good subject for dinner table."
TT: "Intelligent person succeeds in his/her studies, gets good grades and good jobs. Our society's top positions are manned with intelligent people. We should not have any worries.
However there lies a problem. According the studies, person's whose IQ is over 120 and extremely seldom creative. Eduard De Bono speaks about 'intelligence trap' where intelligent persons fall into. For the following reasons: intelligent person gets used to being more knowledgeable in groups, he/she wants to shine, not wanting to learn from others ..."
From HS's review of Dan Brown's newest: "There is another surprise in the plot. It hits you like a modulation in a song in the Eurovision song contest, which make you excited one more time, even though after 400 pages the stuff starts to be a bit embarrassing"

John Cleese about the creativity
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9rtmxJrKwc (via HeGe via Janne)
"I think it's easier to be creative if you have other people around to play with. I always found that if two or more of us throw ideas backwards and forward, I get to more interesting and original places that I would have ever gotten on my own. But there is a danger. A real danger if there is one person around you who makes you feel defensive, you loose the confidence to play. And it's goodbye creativity. Always make sure that your play friends are people that you like and trust. And never say anything to squash them either" https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=f9rtmxJrKwc#t=1640s
creating a Space Time oasis, getting into the open mode, being playfullness, not being scared, accepting that silly, illogical, wrong is OK, confidence ... = recipe for creativity

Balance of giving and getting
Remembering old "prepaid-thought", brought another self-evident insight back to mind. It's interesting how sensitive some of us are and some of us are not to the balance of giving and getting.
For those who are sensitive to this balance, their giving starts without any kind of obligation to get back. But if they sense that they are not getting back equally, in the long run, trust is gone forever.
For those who are not sensitive to this balance getting is just a natural to take if somebody gives.
I am surrounded with givers (=I have surrounded myself, we have chosen each others) which is very nice. Comfy. But it's also too easy - barely ever I have to fight to get back. It it shows.
Givers and takers rarely make up a long lasting team to go to a pub :)

"Lataa puheaikaa" ... Load/Earn talk time
When I was younger (and I'd like to think also significantly more stupid), I thought I have endless talk time with my fellow beings in my own little universe. "Of course they would be willing to listen my points of view, my ideas, my complaints, endlessly." It lead me into some serious personal dead-ends.
Sometimes by the end of my Nokia era 2007, I finally started to "understand" that human relationships resemble somehow interestingly prepaid subscriptions. Your "subscription" has to have talk time loaded in order to deliver your points. Talk time can be loaded by good deeds, by really listening, by creating value to others, by performing well. If you run totally out of talk time, then you are probably very close of being completely through with the relationship, be it in an organization or in your personal life. You can talk but the reception is lost.
After understanding this (which is probably self-evident for many) I have learned to keep my eye on my prepaid balances - I am trying to give time for loading, try to really listen, to give back, do good for others. By mastering this, you get more time and also bandwidth.
The same principle works for tones of discussion. It's a thin line between being considered "constructively critical" or just "Nothing good ever comes out" (=negatiivinen, nillittäjä, ilkeä, kateellinen,...) . In order to be considered "constructively critical" you have to load your prepaid with pretty massive amount of results, good deeds, positive views.
Somehow this Ville-Tolle thing reminded me of this thought. To me personally, Ville earns his talk time by being genuine - by revealing his thoughts to a more or less open debate. Simply that has value in here, in the land of open people.
Tolle had a point, I believe. But he/she has totally used his/her talk time for his/her single point. By not giving anything out except his/her obvious dislike for Ville, she/he has turned into another shitty voice in the web. No real difference to any forum with hate against eg group of people. Except style. If I forget the context, I did laugh while reading his/her later stories.
Engineers way of seeing things :)

FB fragments - shoemaker's kids do not have shoes
Facebook fragments my "memories". For my primary "memory", it's way too now-service despite of its' timeline. It has too much ad hoc, less significant input...
Always the same story - talk something to your customers, do the opposite yourself :)
"Remember that whatever content you create, have a primary spot for it in your own media, and if you want conduct eg the discussions in FB".

You get props over here?
It does puzzle me ... us all, about 7 Billion, in the middle of absolutely nothing, trying our best to kill each other, to get the most for me myself and I ...
Looking at "facts", it's pretty obvious that we all should stick together in this little blue-green ball in the middle of hostile emptiness just in order to survive.
Just a thought to go, there are corporates whose workforce is 1/6 of our total population.

Ville and Tolle...
I really appreciate and admire Ville for doing it all in his www.villetolvanen.com. Experimenting yes but still putting it all in. Especially since there is really no need for that eg businesswise. Often a flow of thoughts but/and also often thoughts generating.
I have had many good laughs with Tolle tollevilvanen.wordpress.com - parody obviously but still somehow good stuff. Which actually makes me question myself - am I so full of consultancy bs that his/her writings also seem to make sense really? Worrying.
How about for example this pearl: "Leader's task is to recognize a genuine smile." It's brilliant... even though I don't know if it's from some leadership book or not, but then again what would not be from one of them (there are so many) and who cares - I found it from Tolle.

It just is more credible when it comes from the "bankers"?
http://www.gmo.com/websitecontent/GMO_QtlyLetter_1Q2013.pdf
"GMO is a global investment management firm committed to providing sophisticated clients with superior asset management solutions and services. We offer a broad range of investment products, including equity and fixed income strategies across global developed and emerging markets, as well as absolute return strategies. Our client base includes endowments, pension funds, public funds, foundations and cultural institutions."
The message that we must now really act to avoid the end of our current civilization is somehow much more credible than coming from people devoted to the cause only?
